Twin Falls Democratic Caucus May 5

This election cycle brings us opportunities which Twin Falls has not seen in many years. It is the opportunity for us to impact statewide races. It is the opportunity to elect a Democratic county commissioner.
These opportunities require an incredible amount of volunteer time and effort. Please consider volunteering your time to campaigns. It is our time and talent that will lead to the success of Democratic candidates in both Twin Falls county, and the state.
This is also the opportunity to build our local organization. Please come to the county caucus to be held May 5 at Pandora's. Run for delegate to the state convention. The state convention will have training for candidates and volunteers, and the opportunity to meet people who have already navigated these waters.
Twin Falls county organization continues to grow. We have 31 precinct captains on the ballot for May 25. Since the filing date, Dane Higdem has volunteered to be precinct captain in Kimberly 1. Our pledge fund is near $500 per month, thanks to over 40 individuals who make a monthly donation to the party. This allows the party to concentrate on volunteer efforts rather than fund raising efforts.

Candidates for county commissioner:
Gary Eller was born in Twin Falls. He joined the Marine Corp, serving as a rifleman in the 1st Marine Division, I Corps, Republic of Viet Nam. He retired from the Army in 1998 in the grade of Lieutenant Colonel. Previous assignments consisted of both conventional Infantry and Special Operations Forces command and staff positions. Following his retirement he returned to Idaho to build a house and to try his hand as a small rancher. Concurrently, he taught high school government, history and economic classes at Buhl High School for a period of three years. He is married to the former Janet Gott from Kimberly, and has two daughters and five grandchildren.

Bill Shropshire was born in Dover, Delaware and moved to Idaho in 1972. He has worked for Longview Fibre Paper & Packaging for 37 years. He was elected to Idaho State AFL-CIO board for 25 years and to CLC Twin Falls 20 years, elected officer of local union since 1976. Bill is married to Pamela M Gabardi of Buhl. They have two boys and six grandkids.
"I have always been active in trying to improve life in the areas I live and for the workers I represent. I have been on local boards, church's, Habitat for Humanity, Private Industry Council, and several times on the Democrats central committee." Bill ran for county commissioner in 1998 and only lost by 180 votes out of 17,000.
